Modine’s High Intensity Ceramic Infrared Heater

Modine’s high intensity ceramic infrared heater is approved for indoor unvented installation. It does not utilize a fan, thus eliminating noise and draft distractions. Gas and power connections are simple and maintenance is inexpensive, since there are no moving parts to maintain. Available controls include Direct Spark Ignition, Self-Generating Millivolt, and Intermittent Pilot (non-100% shut-off).

  • Provide maximum heat transfer while maintaining lower gas input ratings.
  • Efficiently direct radiant heat to the desired area, for increased comfort over wider areas.
  • Provides support for simple chain mounting.
  • Eliminates fan noise, drafts, maintenance and reduces electrical energy costs.
  • Wide input range to accommodate a variety of heating requirements
  • Maximize application flexibility.
  • Accommodate a wide range of electrical inputs.
  • Allow convenient access to gas valve, control system, transformer, and gas orifices, increasing ease of installation and service.
  • Eliminates the removal of the unit from its mounted position for service.
  • Assures that the unit conforms to national safety standards.
  • Allows for quick and easy field modification of unit to use propane gas and/or operate at elevations of up to 7,000 feet above sea level.

Your Boiler's Best Friend Just Got Smaller

Boiler Buddy is excited to announce the addition of the Lil' Buddy, the BB-18. The Boiler Buddy is designed to be used in heating systems with low-mass boilers, geothermal, chilled water applications, or low-mass radiation. Boilers operating at low loads will short cycle which leads to sooting, premature component failure (nuisance lockouts) and inefficiency. The Boiler Buddy tank is a factory insulated and jacketed storage tank, adding mass to the system and providing the necessary buffer to prevent short cycling.

All Boiler Buddy Buffer Tanks Feature:

  • Aquastat Control Well included for precise temperature measurement for heating and geothermal systems.
  • Air Eliminator built into the top of tank provides optimal air elimination for the whole system.
  • Boiler Buddy provides hydro separation, making piping design simple.
  • Full port boiler drain valve allows easy sediment removal and also works exceptionally well for fast filling the system.
  • Designed with large nipples to provide better flow that is easier on equipment, more efficient, and allows for better mixing in tank.
  • ¾” full port ball valve now upgraded to a ¾” Webstone Ball Valve with integrated hose bib fitting which allows for fast and easy drainage.

Preventing Limescale

What causes limescale deposition?

Minerals in chalk or limestone rock collect as water permeates through the ground and collects in aquifers. These minerals remain within the water and are carried into the domestic water supply. They inevitably reach central heating and water systems, where they build up over time and cause blockages in pipework, efficiency losses and the premature failure of components. These problems can arise in both the primary water system (the central heating system) and secondary (household hot water) system.

The mineral deposits, collectively known as limescale, consist primarily of calcium and magnesium carbonates which are generally insoluble. Limescale occurs when these are deposited by heating water that contains soluble bicarbonate salts (which are thermally unstable and break down to form carbonates).

There are several factors that contribute to the build-up of limescale, including:

  • High (temporary) hardness
  • Elevated pH (alkalinity) of the water
  • Elevated temperature

What should be done?

Prevention is always better than cure. In central heating systems, the addition of any Fernox Protector F1 will prevent deposition of limescale.

For domestic hot water systems, Fernox offers a range of scale reducers designed to provide either whole house or single appliance protection.

A Flush Fitting Shower Tray From Duravit

Zero height, zero problem.

Flush fitting shower trays are appreciated by design-conscious bathroom users. In the past, such shower trays had a tendency to pose installation challenges. Duravit has introduced its solution – which allows for installation after floor tiles have been set.

A height-adjustable frame makes it possible to achieve a perfectly-suited space for the tray, while its outlet can be precisely positioned thanks to a template. A new and completely watertight drain system prevents the possibility of water damage and if needed, the tray can be removed later to provide access for servicing.
